The Return

On the ride back, we used the carts that the fake bandits had. I decided to do the upgrade on Trillion on the ride back.

I said, “Trillion, do you want me to erase the memories of the time they held you captive?”

“No, I need those memories to strengthen me. Can you dull but not remove those memories, as if in a fog. So I remember that it happened, but perhaps with less detail.”

I placed my hand on her forehead. Again, she was in rough shape. I cured her from the usual parasites; as well as several sexually transmitted diseases, burns and cuts and poorly healed broken bones. After I had healed all the physical stuff. I went to work on her mind. Placing fog just over specific bad memories was hard to do, so I put a fog over all of her memories from when she was captured until the rescue. Her skill was a Level-4 beast-master. I increased her mana reserve to the size of a tanker train car, and I increased her beast-master to level-7. Given her treatment as a captive, I decided she needed a defense against that ever happening again. I gave her a second skill, I gave her persuasion level-7, and persuasion resistance, I set to level-8. Then I woke up.

Claria said, “You gave her the full update didn't you?”

Suedo said, “Master, whatever you did to her, please do that to me, the happy sounds…”

Claria said, “We are almost in the city.”

I said, “Trillium, time to wake up.”

She bolted up and looked around, “Where? What? Who?”

“Rescued? You are…. Lord Green?”

I said, “I have increased your skills, check your skills.”

She closed her eyes, and then opened them. “Level-7 persuasion and level-8 persuasion resistance? Oh I wish I had those before… before… you … you messed with my memories?”

“You asked me to.”

“You cured all the things that were wrong with me?”

“Yes.”

“I… I remember what you did to them. Where are they?”

“In the other wagon, they are asleep, and bound in steel shackles.”

“I remember there was a Demon.”

A voice came from the back of the wagon. “Sorry Trillion, I was a bit out of my mind for a bit when the mind lock was removed, I am much better now.”

“Did you leave her hair white?”

“No, she has black hair now, keeping her quiet will be one of your main jobs. Here, I made you a bracelet, put it on.”

“It’s very pretty, are those real emeralds?”

“Check your stats again.”

“My persuasion, it’s different, it now says persuasion of demons level-9.”

“Yeah, the extra level boost only affects demons. The bracelet is keyed to only work for you, and it can only be removed by you.”

She said, “The Demon…”

“Call her Suedo, no need to call attention to what she is.”

“Suedo, you have to do what I say?”

Suedo said, “Nah, it doesn't work, it’s just fake jewelry.”

“Suedo, answer me truthfully, do you have to do what I say?”

“Yes, annoying little non-master, but take care, exactly how you phrase your wording matters a lot.
